The job

A homeowner in Southampton got in touch during a spell of hot weather. The bedroom had become uncomfortable at night and they were struggling to sleep, which is one of the most common reasons people look at air conditioning for the first time. What we did

We recommended a Daikin 2.5kW wall-mounted unit. The bedroom is under 12 square metres, and a 2.5kW unit suits a room of that size: enough to bring the temperature down quickly, without being oversized for the space. The installation was a back to back setup, which means the indoor unit was mounted on an external wall with the outdoor unit fitted directly behind it. That keeps the pipe run short and tidy, with no long routes of trunking through the property. Power was taken from the existing ring main, so no new supply was needed. The indoor unit sits high on the bedroom wall, with the pipework and condensate run neatly down the brickwork outside to the outdoor unit.

The result

The air conditioning installation was completed in a single day, so the room was back in use the same evening. The bedroom now holds a comfortable temperature through the warm weather and the customer can sleep properly again, which was the whole reason for the job. It is a straightforward piece of work that makes a noticeable difference to daily life, and this Southampton customer was very happy with the result.
